Airborne Surveillance
Today's forces face many asymmetric threats - both on the ground and in the air.
Easily integrated on manned or unmanned platforms, our airborne solutions help to detect and identify targets and determine if a threat is hostile. The real-time information delivered increases situational awareness and improves response time.
General Dynamics' electro-optical infrared (EO/IR) cameras deliver real-time, day and night situational awareness and long-range threat detection. Our optical and motion control components and assemblies provide clarity, day or night, with precise pointing and stabilization. Multi-axis stabilization, high-definition imagery and continuous zoom capabilities allow persistent tracking of targets at long-range and high speeds.
We design and develop multi-spectral components and sub-systems for short-wave infrared (SWIR), mid-wave infrared (MWIR) and forward-looking infrared (FLIR) sensors. By highlighting man-made objects from natural objects and backgrounds, our IronSightTM technology is ideal for concealed threat detection, maritime surveillance and wide-area aerial surveillance.
Additionally, we deliver pointing and scanning gimbals for UAV targeting and light detection and ranging (LIDAR) systems. These systems include 2-axis gimbal assemblies, gimbal cartridges, rotary actuators, rotating monogon or polygon scanners and nodding scanners.
