Advance Specialist - Import Export
Basic Function:
The incumbent will be responsible for preparing and monitoring export and import licenses and agreements, obtaining and maintaining Carnets, preparing export documentation, and coordinating imports and exports with the freight forwarders. The incumbent will review and approve all exports from the Grass Valley and San Diego facilities, including technical data transfers, foreign visit requests, and employee foreign travel requests. He/she will provide training to employees, assist in audits and compliance investigations and maintain records of licenses, exports, and imports as required by US regulations.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Manages all aspects of export and import compliance at Global Imaging Technologies West
- Prepares drafts of export licenses, technical assistance agreements, amendments, and general correspondence cases for review and submittal to U.S. government
- Ensures export licenses, agreements, logs and records are maintained, keeping records of all export transactions in accordance with US Government regulations
- Operates D-Trade and SNAP-R for transmitting export licenses and agreements
- Reviews and approves foreign travel and foreign visitor requests and makes appropriate export control determinations
- Identifies, coordinates and provides export, import or compliance training across respective business areas
- Attends program reviews and business development meetings to provide export compliance and licensing guidance
- Reviews and approves all import transactions, including determining HTS classifications
- Assists with miscellaneous projects and reporting requests as needed
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
- Minimum of 5 years of import/export experience
- Experience with ITAR, EAR, FTR (AES), Customs Regulations
- Must be analytical; needs to be able to apply different regulations to different types of transactions
- Must have strong communication skills - verbal/written
